ANTAEngineering & Infrastructure
Prepare testing, settings, evidence and handover to operations.
This resource explains the principle, key decisions, common mistakes and the data required to go further.

Project
Key points to retain.
Commissioning prepares and documents evidence that systems meet client requirements under real scenarios, including degraded modes.
- Tests are designed during the project, not in the final week.
- Installed equipment does not prove function or coordination.
- Training and records are part of start-up.

Understand the mechanism, then its consequences.
01Define requirements
Functions, performance, tolerances, normal, backup and interface scenarios.
02Prepare tests
Scenarios, prerequisites, instruments, responsibilities, forms and acceptance criteria.
03Test and correct
Unit, functional and integrated tests, deviation records and retesting.
04Handover
Training, as-built records, instructions, alarms, maintenance and post-acceptance review.
Prepare a study
Useful data before reaching a conclusion.
The visitor can begin with these items. ANTA will then determine which measurements and checks are really required.
- Functional requirements
- System and interface list
- Test plan
- Calibrated instruments
- Owners and programme
- Snag management
Frequently asked questions
Clear answers without oversimplifying.
01Is acceptance not enough?
Acceptance is a contractual act; commissioning is the structured technical process supporting it.
02Should an outage be deliberately tested?
Backup scenarios should be tested safely and deliberately, including transfer and return.
03What about minor defects?
Record them, assess impact, assign ownership and verify closure.
Essential glossary
Use the right words for the right decisions.
- Functional test
- Test of a complete function under a scenario.
- Prerequisite
- Condition to be met before testing.
- Snag
- Remaining deviation to correct or document.
- As-built records
- Final records needed to operate and maintain the asset.
